Perhaps you have a sketch or picture of a new product idea or an idea to improve an existing product, but you have questions or concerns about the idea’s design and manufacturing. The picture might be the 3D picture created by 3DWorxs during the brainstorming step.
You might contact 3DWorxs at the design step to discuss the creation a CAD model and perhaps the related CAM process data and packaging for your product idea. Design discussions are free of charge.
As with brainstorming, typically you would work with a 3DWorxs project manager during the design step to address a range of engineering information questions, such as:
As with brainstorming, you and the project manager might decide to involve others during this step to address these and other questions and concerns. For example, you might want insights and experiences from 3DWorxs artists, industrial designers, or engineering specialists. Addressing your engineering information needs might involve multiple remote or on-site meetings. Again, design discussions are free of charge.
At some point during the brainstorming discussions, you might decide to order a 3D picture of your product idea and perhaps associated packaging. This picture would include your copyright to your product’s 3D picture and packaging.
To order a 3D picture, 3DWorxs would provide you with a services and deliverables quotation. Your order for the quoted items would be subject to the 3DWorxs Service Terms.
Creating the 3D picture can be an iterative process leading to your satisfaction with your product design and perhaps packaging ideas. Accordingly, material changes to your initial order may, at the discretion of the project manager, require a new quotation.
Example
The CAD drawing shown above is an example of a design idea for a new decoupling part for commercial lawnmowers. It is meant to reduce the time to empty lawn clippings. (used by permission)
Once you are satisfied with the CAD model, related CAM data, and perhaps packaging design, for your product idea, you might decide to look into using that data to manufacture prototypes. Prototypes are often used to test manufacturing, marketing, and other ideas. 3DWorxs can help with the prototyping step. We typically employ 3D printing techniques for prototypes.
